Explore the global impact of Manchester’s cotton and textile industry in this fascinating exhibition. Through objects and stories of individuals and communities originating from Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, discover how the textile industry directly shaped their lives and the legacy it has left to all of us.

7 July – 30 September - Beyer-Garratt Locomotives of the World

The first Beyer-Garratt articulated locomotive went into production at Beyer, Peacock’s Gorton works in January 1909. Between 1909 and 1958, 176 orders were placed with Beyer, Peacock for Garratt locomotives, and a total of 1,116 engines were built. Please note the Collections Centre is open Tuesdays – Saturdays only.
